Handcrafted by a skilled artisan in Wajima, Ishikawa Prefecture, these elegant lacquered chopsticks showcase the depth and beauty of traditional Japanese craftsmanship.

The handles are decorated with finely scattered Aogai shell and green opal, carefully embedded beneath layers of natural lacquer and polished using a traditional togidashi technique. Through this meticulous process, the shell and opal gradually emerge from beneath the lacquer, creating a rich, luminous surface.

As the light changes, the Aogai shell reveals subtle shades of blue, green, and violet, while the opal adds a delicate sparkle. Together, they evoke the quiet brilliance of stars scattered across a night sky.

The chopsticks feature a distinctive pentagonal shape, allowing the five subtle ridges to rest naturally in the hand. Beyond their decorative beauty, they retain the tactile warmth and refined character unique to Japanese lacquerware.

Each pair is individually handcrafted. The placement, color, and brilliance of the shell and opal will therefore vary slightly from piece to piece, making every pair truly unique.

A remarkable example of contemporary Wajima craftsmanship, designed to bring a quiet sense of luxury to the everyday dining table.
