Wakasa Lacquerware Chopsticks Set - Light Snowfall
These octagonal chopsticks feature a handle designed to resemble lacquered chopsticks. The simple design is highlighted by linear-cut shell inlays, which catch the eye. They combine the smooth feel of lacquered chopsticks with the excellent grip of wooden ones, offering the best of both worlds.
About the Region - Wakasa Lacquerware
Wakasa, in the city of Obama, is one of Japan's leading chopstick production regions, accounting for nearly 90% of the nation's chopsticks. The region's history with lacquerware began in the early Edo period when craftsmen from the Obama clan started designing chopsticks inspired by the seabed. Wakasa lacquerware features intricate designs using materials like eggshell, blue shell, pine needles, and canola seeds to depict the sea's mystic beauty. Layers of colored lacquer and gold leaf are applied, providing a strong and durable finish.
