About the Artisan: Takashi Abe
Takashi Abe is the first lacquer artisan in Kawatsura's history to specialize exclusively in chopsticks. He is deeply passionate about creating chopsticks that combine the traditional durability and practicality of Kawatsura lacquerware.
Abe's designs are known for their warmth and charm, with every chopstick meticulously lacquered from the base coat to the final finish. His craftsmanship prioritizes both safety and usability, resulting in sturdy, easy-to-use, and timeless chopsticks. Abe is truly a master in the art of chopstick making.

About the Origin - Kawatsura Lacquerware
The tradition of Kawatsura lacquerware dates back to the Kamakura period when local beech wood and lacquer were used to coat armor. This region produces a wide range of chopsticks, from sturdy and practical designs with a simple, warm aesthetic to elegant pieces adorned with decorative techniques such as makie (gold or silver lacquer decoration) and chinkin (gold inlay carving). These chopsticks are known for their durability and timeless appeal.
