This painstaking process has earned it the nickname “Baka-nuri” (foolish lacquer), highlighting the extraordinary effort involved. The phrase "robust and practical" perfectly captures the essence of these chopsticks. Beyond their strength, Tsugaru lacquerware boasts a variety of decorative techniques, including Karakuri-nuri, Nanako-nuri, Monsha-nuri, and Nishiki-nuri, showcasing its diverse artistic expressions.
